Jayne Simon, Senior Vice President of Sales at Geffen Records (retired)
Ms. Simon is the recently retired Senior Vice-President of Sales at Geffen Records. She has been in the record business since 1976 when, as a disk jockey living in Chicago, she was hired by A & M Records as their first local marketing coordinator. Ms. Simon remained with A & M until 1989, becoming a member of the National Sales staff as the Head of Single Sales. In 1989, Ms. Simon became the Vice-President of Sales at Enigma Records, a Capital-EMI company, and later became the Vice-President of Sales at BMG's Zoo Entertainment, where the success of artists like Matthew Sweet and Tool were integral to putting Zoo on the map. In 1993, Ms. Simon left Zoo to become Head of Sales at Geffen Records under the tutelage of Eddie Rosenblatt. After 3 years at Geffen, she became Senior Vice-President of Marketing and Sales for MCA Records, where she remained for almost 8 years. MCA merged into Geffen Records a year ago. Dennis Erokan, Founder & Publisher of BAM Magazine
Mr. Erokan is a mainstay of the music scene in Northern California. Friend and associate of many iconic California music personalities from Bill Graham to Carlos Santana, he founded both BAM (Bay Area Music) magazine and also the annually televised BAMMIES/California Music Awards. BAM was the first magazine distributed free at retail outlets throughout California. Mr. Erokan also founded the BAM Network, aggregating music magazines around the country to have a primary circulation of well over 500,000 copies, as well as the seminal and vastly important technical magazine MicroTimes. He is also the co-founder and been the publisher of The MIX, a professional recording studio magazine, which became (and still is) the largest in terms of advertising sales and circulation. He sold the magazine, and the final buyer was Intertech Publishing for $40 million. Mr. Erokan brings over 25 years of entertainment music publishing and digital information industry experience to his present role as a Director of the Alliance of CEOs, Inc.
Kevin Coogan, Senior Director of Film & Television Music at ASCAP
As Senior Director of Film & Television Music at ASCAP, and formerly as head of his own artist management company and as a major label executive, Kevin Coogan is an internationally known expert on the marriage of music and image - from features films thru MTV to home music video DVDs.
Mr. Coogan joined the Music Society's Los Angeles staff in 1995 and for the past four years has also produced the annual national ASCAP Feature Film and Music Workshop, while expanding music's presence at many of the major festivals (Sundance, South By Southwest Music Convention (SXSW), the LA Independent Film Festival, New York's Independent Feature Film Market, and the Nashville Independent Film Festival). He also produces and heads music and film industry showcases, screenings, panels and other various events. Mr. Coogan has been an executive member of the National Academy of Recordings Arts and Sciences for 12 years.
